Get to know… Business Development Administrator Tyrell Jingini

Earlier this year, we were delighted to welcome Tyrell Jingini to the Starkey Electrical team as our first, dedicated Business Development Administrator.

Tyrell brings a diverse career background to the table, with experience in finance, administration and property management. His educational focus on accounting and finance aligns perfectly with his passion for growing businesses and creating mutually beneficial partnerships.

After a month or so in the role, we sat down with Tyrell to find out more about his role, his reflections on his first month in the job, his industry insights, and his goals for the future.

What drew you to the role?

Firstly, Stuart’s work ethic is one that I have yet to see replicated, and for me, having guidance like that is an opportunity of a lifetime.

Starkey Electrical stands out as an industry leader, consistently delivering innovative solutions and achieving remarkable success. The company’s impressive numbers and accolades are a testament to its championship trajectory, and the opportunity to contribute to its growth in the renewable energy sector is invaluable.

What are your key priorities for the immediate future and what is your vision for shaping and defining the role in the coming years?

At Starkey Electrical, we foster a robust and collaborative synergy among our electrical services, EV chargers and PV enterprises. Our primary focus lies in cultivating new business relationships, ensuring their longevity and bolstering the company’s overall profitability. The key to developing these connections lies in our commitment to modern and scalable systems, facilitating automated processes while we concentrate on retaining a more sophisticated clientele.

Central to our strategy is the integration of packaged services, not merely for upselling purposes but to establish recognition as an end-to-end solutions provider in the industry. Additionally, I aspire to pioneer a subscription-based model, incorporating operational and maintenance packages that encompass all Starkey Electrical Services. This approach includes services such as solar PV array cleaning, inspections upon ownership transfer and the integration of in-house technology to enhance our operational efficiency. Our vision remains focused on bringing each entity to its full value.

What do you think are your biggest opportunities?

The vast opportunities in renewable energy extend far beyond the confines of business, playing a pivotal role in reshaping the economic landscape not just in the UK, but globally.

Solar PV has achieved rare parity in numerous regions, making its cost comparable to or even lower than traditional energy sources. This affordability renders solar a compelling and competitive choice for both businesses and homeowners, resulting in increased adoption and significant market growth.

As we navigate the landscape of renewable energy, our focus on cost-cutting becomes a catalyst for increased revenue, directly contributing to a company’s net profit. This achievement not only brings smiles to the faces of stakeholders but also elicits an even more significant sense of satisfaction for us as we forge lasting, long-term relationships.

In the face of rising energy costs, escalating interest rates and a growing need for sustainability, we proudly offer innovative systems and solutions to meet these challenges head-on.

What do you see as the biggest challenges?

In my perspective, the allure lies in the enormous upside potential, especially when identifying a viable pathway to success.

For me, one of the most significant challenges not just within my role but throughout the sector, is regulatory complexity. Although the Government actively promotes renewable energy in the pursuit of a sustainable and greener society, words like decarbonisation and climate change are resonating louder.

However, regulatory decisions currently still favour fossil fuels, creating a disparity in incentives for both solar system providers and the end consumer. We need to redirect the flow of capital from institutions, such as banks and private equity, towards renewable energy.

Effecting a change in trajectory and advocating for more favourable terms, despite a comparatively lower return, becomes crucial. As the Solar PV industry remains integral, a positive cycle emerges – more people seeking these benefits creates increased supply and demand. Ultimately, it becomes a game of value, with financial upside following in its wake.

How do you plan to inject creativity into your business development strategies?

One unique idea I have is to implement thematic and educational workshops or webinars tailored to our target audience(s). These sessions would not only showcase the benefits of our EV and solar PV products but also provide valuable insights into sustainable energy practices, contributing to positive brand building.

In addition, I envision creating interactive and visually engaging content for our online platforms, fostering a sense of community and knowledge-sharing among our clients and prospects. Alongside this, I believe that by aligning ourselves with complementary businesses, we can tap into new audiences and create mutually beneficial relationships. Leveraging emerging technologies like augmented reality for virtual product demonstrations is another innovative avenue I’m excited to explore.

How do you plan to integrate your role within the overall Starkey Electrical team to get the best results?

In the realm of business development, effective collaboration with diverse teams is paramount. Recognising the heightened significance of individual values in today’s context, especially amidst global challenges like record inflation and economic crises, adds an extra layer of complexity to team dynamics.

My priority therefore is open communication across the business. By engaging with team members to articulate our collective goals, roles and shared values, I aim to establish mutual understanding and build trust. Creating an environment founded on the principle of interdependence – a symbiotic ‘I need you, and you need me’ ethos – fosters teamwork and positions us for success. Ensuring each team member experiences a sense of fulfilment is integral to the holistic development of our business within Starkey Electrical. Framing a feel-good factor is part and parcel of developing a business.
